Joanne Leedom-Ackerman

SUNDAY, MAY 5, 2024, AT 2 P.M.

Gate B, 4024 Radford Ave, Studio City, CA 91604
Networking 2-2:30 PM
Meeting 2:30-4 PM

The special guest for our May 5th chapter meeting is acclaimed author, essayist and international journalist Joanne Leedom-Ackerman who will share how her extensive travels and behind-the-scenes investigations in global trouble spots have informed her novels.

A Vice President of PEN International, she serves on the boards of the International Center for Journalists, the American Writers Museum, Words Without Borders, and Refugees International and is an emeritus director of Poets and Writers, the PEN/Faulkner Foundation and Human Rights Watch.

Facts meet fiction in her latest book, The Far Side of the Desert (Oceanview). Ryan Prado of Foreword calls it “a propulsive thriller with myriad levels of intrigue and suspense.”

Pre-registration, as always, is required for entry onto the Radford Studio Center lot, so be sure to hit that registration button before noon on Friday May 3rd.

If you missed our April meeting, don’t feel left out. You can hear it in podcast form as Episode 3 of  Writing Criminals from Sisters in Crime Los Angeles and Apple Podcasts. Or see it at our YouTube channel. And be sure to catch us at Booth 360 at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, April 20th and 21st, on the USC campus.
