Sisters in Crime/LA Speakers Bureau Highlights for 2019

  • SISTERS IN CRIME PANEL FOR VENICE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY OPEN HOUSE AND ANNUAL MEETING: Sisters in Crime/LA members Anne Louise Bannon, Ellen Byron, and Sarah M. Chen discussed “The Funny Side of Murder” as a panel as part of the Venice Friends of the Library Open House and Annual Meeting. This event was October 10th, 2019, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Venice Library Community Room, S. 501 Venice Blvd in Venice, with the panel beginning at 6:00 PM.   • TWO FATALLY HAUNTED ANTHOLOGY EVENTS IN AUGUST: AUGUST 10TH, 2019 FROM 1-3PM – Gatsby’s Books, 5535 E Spring St, Long Beach, CA 90808 and AUGUST 17TH, 2019, FROM 2-4PM – Hyde Park Library, 2205 W Florence Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90043
  • FATALLY HAUNTED ANTHOLOGY PRE-RELEASE EVENT! Before the FATALLY HAUNTED anthology was officially released April 29th, 2019, people got the chance to meet some of the included authors as part of the Annual Author’s Forum at the Donald Bruce Kaufman Brentwood Branch Library on April 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. The forum will be moderated by Chapter President Anne Louise Bannon and showcased authors Julia Bricklin, Tony Chiachiaro, B.J. Graf, A.P. Jamison, Gobind Tanaka and Jennifer Younger.
  • MAY 18, 2019 – Sisters in Crime/LA participated in LitFest Pasadena from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Panelists Janet Elizabeth Lynn, Sybil Johnson, GB Pool and Nancy Cole Silverman discussed “Three Shades of Mystery: From Cozy to Dark Mysteries” in a panel moderated by Anne Louise Bannon. The panel is described as: “Come hear a panel of mystery authors discuss why they choose to write the genre they do. From soft, cozy mysteries to hard boiled murder mysteries they will reveal where they get their soft and dark inspiration.” Find more details at the LitFest Pasadena website.
  • In partnership with the Independent Writers of Southern California, members Betty Hetchman, David Putnam and Patricia Smiley appeared on a panel on “Solving the Mystery of Writing Good Mysteries” on March 25, 2019, in Culver City.
  • On April 9, 2019, at noon, authors Matt Coyle, Jill Amadio, Pamela Samuels Young, and Jeri Westerson appeared at the Artesia Library. Anne Louise Bannon will moderate. The topic was “How We Write Mysteries”.
